Pinjar – Amrita Pritam

Pinjar by Amrita Pritam is a novel set during the 1947 Partition of India, telling the story of Puro, a Hindu girl abducted by a Muslim man named Rashid After she escapes and tries to return home, her own family rejects her, seeing her as defiled. The story highlights the trauma and powerlessness of women, the violence of the partition, and themes of identity, belonging, and resilience in the face of social and political upheaval.
